The year 2017 has been a challenging year for a lot of people, politically and technologically too. The turmoil all over the world had provided us with a lot of depressing news but at the same time messages of hope. We are living in a time where we have every kind of information available but at the same time, we are too lazy to look deep. With technological advancements, I just hope people still have an awareness to be humane.

Another year came to an end but personally, it been the busiest. It has been a roller coaster ride with new learning curves and personal growth. With the release of Path of Exile's The Fall of Oriath and War for the Atlas, time went by fast. In my spare time, I got myself enrolled in two of iAnimate's Games Workshops which kept me growing.

Witcher game series is definitely one of the best additions to my library with Devil May Cry (DmC) and Life Is Strange. Couldn't travel much but definitely the year 2018 would be a year of surprises.

It's been another year of silence on this blog but I planned to get more posts out. To close this post, I would like to share some of my works of the year 2017. Best of luck with your journeys and careers and hope this new year brings happiness and progress in your life.

Thank you and be kind :)
As this year come to a close, I would like to share few things. It's been a long silence on my blog and website as these couple of years were quite absorbing. It involves experiencing and learning new cultures, travelling, trying new things, finding a new hobby, knowing intriguing friends and more. What I can say for now is that hopefully I will try to get back in the zone of writing and would continue back blogging my perception and sharing what inspires.

There have been an update to the look of the website and some fixes are underway. I've added 2 new videos on Vimeo, Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV compilation video and 2016 Animation Reel. You can click on it to directly be taken to the Vimeo page or you can simply check out the Animation section. Besides that, blog categories name have been changed to make it work with the template.

That's all for now, hoping you all an interesting new year and progressing life.aabidhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05720606378648406700noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2720002236616498796.post-54923284973069707832016-12-27T21:32:00.000+13:002016-12-28T00:10:11.774+13:00Animation Reel of Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV

Yes! You have read it right. It's a compilation video for the work I did on the film Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV produced by Square Enix, Japan while working in Toneplus Animation Studios back in Japan.

My work on this project was limited to five months where I was able to do some challenging stuff. It was the best as a film I have ever worked on in my life with an incredible team and supporting leads and supervisor.

I'm really thankful to the company for giving me that opportunity to work on. Thank you!
The best way to start the blog post for this year is by an inspiring animator Ivan Gopienko's short film, "Children of Future Sleep."

Clip information from Vimeo:
This is a story about the mysterious world of anti-utopian future where each human-being's fallen asleep and replaced himself by robots. Unusual robot is destined to find output - he is seeking answers to his disturbing dreams...

I've included his behance project link where you can see more on his film.
A while back I came across a cool CG abstract piece which was so great that it stuck in my head and whenever I watch it, it always inspires. This is Genesis with great visuals by a design company Panoply and amazing sound design by Echoic Audio. After watching the clip, if you like to see how it was done, do check out it's making.

Info about the clip from Vimeo:

Through a combination of powerful imagery and atmospheric pace Genesis dares us to fleetingly glimpse our own origins, our civilisation and the known universe. Drawing heavily on a visual currency distilled from the subconscious and the psychology of self, we are taken on a stark journey marrying rippling, organic forms with stern, unyielding geometry.

Wow, its been almost 8 months since my last post. The only excuse I can use here is that life been too busy.

Since last year, its been an adventure and a lot of those key memories within this period will never be forgotten. I can only say that every year brings a different kind of challenges which helps me understand life more.

As you might have already noticed that I've moved to Tokyo earlier this year and damn I underestimated the time it can take settling down. Already gone into new set of challenges and experiments since my move, but I'm beginning to think that its clearing off as time passes. Still some important stuff left but hope to get it done soon.

Hope to get everything back on track soon and will try to keep more post and updates coming.aabidhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05720606378648406700noreply@blogger.com0Tokyo, Japan35.6894875 139.6917063999999321.7112815 119.03740939999993 49.6676935 160.34600339999992tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2720002236616498796.post-43917926994537112412014-12-26T18:49:00.000+13:002014-12-26T18:54:26.612+13:00The Universe by Ian Watt

The Universe directed & written by talented Ian Watt takes us on a journey of exploration of our minds. It reminds me of Terrence Malick's film The Tree of Life.
This film explores some major concepts, but two of them are simple: places and spaces. Places are merely physical locations, with often no meaning attached to them. However, a simple, empty room can be formed into a space; turned into a place of meeting, creativity, innovation, and community. Places are often beautiful, awe-inspiring, breathtaking, but they only become spaces when we engage with them. When we experience beauty, peace, or joy from a place, our reflections and responses to the place are what create an experience, as well as the emotions that we feel.

Here's the problem, when we reflect during an experience, or bring pre-conceived notions to an experience, we arent truly experiencing. Reflection must exclusively follow experience.

This film is about experiences of the mind. Places of the mind are merely thoughts, ideas, concepts. When we engage with the places of our own minds, we create spaces. Spaces to dream, to think, to create, to become. In this film, a young man engages with some big concepts for the very first time, and as an audience we get to see the spaces he creates and explores. And with that, we get to explore alongside him, and ask ourselves the very questions that he does.

With that, please enjoy The Universe.

It was a great journey to my first ever neuro-biology class which I really enjoyed. Here is my attempt on the assignment.
Brain-Eating Amoeba - Naregleria Fowleri

Introduction:

As I was researching for an assignment, I stumbled upon the recent news regarding Naegleria fowleri which ended up with a death. Never heard about it before but that news get me interested into this silent killer disease. Naegleria fowleri which also been called as brain-eating amoeba that can be found in warm, stagnant bodies of fresh water, lakes and rivers which can invade the central nervous system and the brain by ingestion and attacking it causing primary amoebic meningoencephalitis (PAM). The infection caused by this microscopic amoeba organism is fatal and has killed 95-97% of it's victims within days to weeks of it's infection. The targeted victims been children and young adults.

Causes:

These organism invades the central nervous system through nose specifically through olfactory mucosa and cribriform plate of the nasal tissues. Amoeba then attaches itself to olfactory nerve which is the first cranial nerve and dig it's way to olfactory bulbs where it feeds itself to nerve tissue causing necrosis(form of cell injury that results in premature death of cells in living tissue by autolysis) and bleeding (hemorrhaging). Later, it moves along the nerve fibers and reaches cranium by cribiform plate and then into the brain. It starts to consume brain cells, piece by piece, eating and infecting it over time causing primary amoebic meningoencephalitis which ends in a dead of the person.

Symptoms:

It symptoms starts with the lost of smell and taste senses as it make it way through the nose and once in the brain, it starts digging and eating up the protective covering of the brain known as the meninges. As a result, our body activates the immune cells which then been sent to fight these which ends up causing surrounding areas inflamed which give rises to symptoms of headache, nausea, vomiting and stiff neck. As naegleria fowleri dig deeper and penetrates into the brain, the symptoms such as delirium, hallucinations, confusion and seizures kicks in as the frontal lobes of the brain tend to get affected because of the pathway it takes through olfactory nerve. In the end because of the extreme pressure in the skull from the inflammation and swelling caused by the body defense mechanism the person's die. Due to the increase pressure in the brain, it forces the brain stem and spinal cord to divide resulting in respiratory failure.

This course provided me great deal of information and make me see the brain in a very different light. The journey into the brain helped me analysis myself and the people around me better. I had no background of Neurobiology before but with eye opener lectures and fascinating facts about the brain made me realized that I do enjoyed this subject after all. Because of this course I can understand the medical terms and hierarchy a bit better. I thank Ms. Peggy Mason and the University of Chicago deeply for providing such a great learning opportunity. It was a great leaning experience for me.

Final Reflective Essay Assignment

This course asks how artists actively make a history for their own practices by thinking about their creative process as a “conversation” with a wide range of art from the past. How has this course helped you establish a greater sense of your own art historical awareness?

To help focus your answer, you must include an example of a work from one of the lectures, the discussion forums, or any research initiated from your participation in this class.

Choose a work that not only interests you, but has had an impact, no matter how small, on your creative practice as well.

This section should be 300-600 words in length.

Final Reflection

It is not always one thing which sparks the creativeness within us. So choosing a single example from these lectures which are almost eleven hours in length and the discussion forums which are full of creative juices, is a difficult task. I still have to digest a lot of materials which are present in these forums and to me, there were a lot of things to reflect back and which helped me in one way or another. Taking into consideration that this was my first ever art history class which I've ever attended to as being a 3d animator for all these year. This whole course really helped me significantly and have introduced me to so many great artists and different art forms which are now part of my collection.

Every week brings in a new sets of history in different art forms, which help me to consider which path or work appeals me the most. The progression of week by week from the origin to the modern times, I can say, it made me able to see and understand the art much better now. The week which influences me the most was the Reality Distortion, which was week 6. As my continuously increasing interest in surrealism and metaphorical art form these days, it gradually help me to better understand the subject and it's origin more.

The example which I want to highlight here which also impacts me was Man Ray’s The Gift (1921) from the lecture 4 of week 6, Techniques of Defamiliarizing and Unknowing, Giants and Miniatures. A visual of it, when it appears on the screen in the lecture and hearing the details about it made me go into deep thinking. Man Ray presented his work in a very simple fashion, as using everyday object and combining it with another to make an unusable item or we can say a dangerous item. In addition, it was served as a gift too. It inspire me to do something related to it, not in the same medium but incorporate it into different visual art form. I already have few ideas which I will try to incorporate it into different media in near future.

I think the main reason which attracts me towards his work was it's simplicity, which I strongly considering it in my every step of life. Simple but at the same time dangerous. I would really like to try in telling a tale through surreal abstract visual art. It would be challenging and interesting.

The week 6 was interesting and give me lot to think about. I also might try to take my first step towards stop motion animation, which I adore so much. There are a lot of possibilities and techniques which can be used and can be dared with the help of the history understanding, which I would never have if I haven't came across this course.

Required Assignment 3: Work of Art Redux

We’ve done a bit of research and have identified at least thirty artists who created work based on Velazquez’s Las Meninas. See here for a short list.

Choose one of those works, and write a 300-600 word essay that compares that derivative (or iterative) version to Velázquez's original work. For example, you could choose a single work from Picasso's series of paintings on Las Meninas, or any other work from the list above.

In writing the essay, consider the degree in which the second work:

shifted away from the original, either formally (visually) or conceptually

and expanded your understanding of the original, if at all.

Las Meninas (1957)

painted by Pablo Picasso

Many of the great artists attempted in their own style, on Las Meninas, a master-piece painting by Diego Velázquez. After three centuries later, Picasso, one of the many artists who was inspired by the famous Spanish baroque painter, Velázquez, painted a series of 58 painting on Las Meninas in 1957.

Picasso was experimenting his style and reinterpreting Las Meninas in his way. One of the first painting in the series which he started with, also my subject of an essay, was almost similar in terms of important elements which were seen in the original painting. The major difference which we can see visually is the style, as Picasso transferred it into cubism. Using the original painting as a base, he started reinterpreting the painting and making it as his own original work.

Picasso's version of Las Meninas, makes the focus point to Infanta Margarita and the kneeled maid of honour, who seen serving the drink. He captures the face of Infanta as it was in the original, looking at the window as well as attending to her parents who are in front of her. Telling the same tale but she might be someone from his past, might be her dead sister, who died at the age of 7 and wanted her to be alive with his legacy. As for kneeled maid, she is the most detailed figure in his painting. She might be Jacqueline Roque, who was his last companion whom he married later in 1960's. For the another maid on the other side of Infanta with a deformed face might be also someone from his life as it was Picasso's personal Las Meninas.

Picasso seems less interested in other characters as it was seen in the original painting. The dog and the kid has been left as a simple outline and the dwarf figure seems to have a hat on her. The priest and nun has been pushed back towards the window becoming one of his compositional element. As for queen’s chamberlain, the black silhouette in the back, seems to be flipped, which helps us to see major characters well. The mirror which was reflecting the image of King Phillip IV and his queen Mariana seems to be blurry with least details. The only thing which is more visible in that frame is the anchor on King Phillip IV face. That might related to Christianity or maybe he just making the whole regime of King Philip IV described through an anchor.

The last remaining figure, which is of Velázquez himself, painted holding the colour palette, which in Picasso's version he was made as a tallest figure, almost touching the roof showing his dominance in the painting. The Cross of Saint James of the Order of Santiago which is painted on the chest can also been seen in his version. He gave Velázquez two faces, one profile and one facing towards us. It seems to me that Picasso made Velázquez looking himself, as he is pleased with the complexity and enigmatic composition which he has given in his master-piece.

Being as a first painting in his series of Las Meninas, we can see the transformation from Velázquez painting to Picasso cubism painting with the mixture of different elements, which meant in Picasso's life. The influence of Velázquez's Las Meninas on Picasso was from very early on. It was only later in his life that he re-visits it and reinterprets it. Picasso's version of Las Meninas is a kind of homage to the great Spanish master, Diego Velázquez.

Visone (1977)

painted by Mauro Mari, aka "Maris"

This beautiful abstract painting, Visone (Vision) by Maris, captures my immediate attention with his great composition and his full attention to detail. The artist might have totally different allegory for this one, but here is what I can conceive and would like to convey.

The contrast of darker red, orange, green and yellow tells a deeper story of world in which we live in. The tone of red which also resemble as blood describes the time of distress, hate and anger. The time of crime, violence and bad economy. The time when you can just see negativity all over the place and our emotions are running high. Everything seems dark, as we passes through those tough times. But this tunnel of distress is not going to be end in distress. People who fight and struggle in those times, will see the light of the bright future.

As we travel the tunnel of distress, we found some hope in between in a form of strips and scars of yellow, which are breaking the tunnel. It's a motivation to keep us going and make us fight for what we believe in. The tone of red is now changing to the darker orange, as we are reaching closer to the end of the tunnel. But reaching closer to the end will not be as smooth and simple as we think. We see it's been covered with grayish black outlines which resemble death, grief and more suffering, which is the ultimate sacrifice which one should get through it to survive.

One who struggles through those darker times will find himself closer to the better times. As we can see the opening of the world with yellowish gold tone. We can see some hope of peace and harmony as it eases into green, fighting and struggling at the same time. A shape of phoenix like structure wrapped around the tunnel's end, symbolizing as our awareness to reach that goal we desire. We should let ourselves challenged enough to know that we are capable enough to break-through those chains of sorrow and move forward and towards the yellow light which promises us the brighter and positive future.

In this cycle of ones' life, one must vision that the life's roller coaster ride will not be as pleasant as it is for others but with the awareness and strength we can shape the life we wanted to live in. Nothing is impossible. Even reaching the better future doesn't mean there will be no more tunnels like that. In every hard times we live internally or externally will make us stronger to reach our imagined better future.
Instructions:
Go to a local museum or gallery. If there isn’t one near you, visit the website for the museum of your choice (this is not as good an option, but it is an acceptable one. Recommended options are below). Give yourself at least an hour for your visit.

Suggested museum websites:

National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC
Museum of Modern Art, New York
British Museum, London

Choose a work of art--any work of art that sufficiently attracts you, for whatever reason. Spend one hour with the work, recording your thoughts and perceptions. Focus on the work of art, but be alive to your awareness of ambient light, noise and activity in the exhibition space.
Organize your thoughts and perceptions, and write a 300-400 word essay, list or narrative.

The Anthropomorphic Cabinet (1936)

The tone really set the mood and it is a sad one as I can feel. It's a great composition and it makes the eyes travel from the center of her body to her head and then to the hand and later towards the public in the background. There is great attention to the detail given to the female figure. The surrealism of this painting, is one of the things which interests me the most as well as it's simplicity of the composition.

A female figure laying on the floor in the dark with a gesture of, "leave me alone". Cutting herself off from the society which have given her nothing but trouble. It looks like she has been abused for a long time and all the things which she owe has been stolen (opened cabinets). She has given up, as shown through her head down.

Every individual carry a secret life with themselves beside the image they portray to the society. And as all the drawers got opened, there's nothing left under that skin than the little bit of courage.

The chest made of drawers which kind a resemble to the drawers of our mind or self which is hidden from the outside world. And whatever goes in there is only known to yourself. To show the disconnection from the world, he adds the contrast of woman in dark empty room, with a gateway to the world or society as we know it. Her hand gesture is the powerful one as it connects foreground with the background together. Most of the drawers seems empty but showing a piece of cloth handing there conveys to me that there is still something left, a bit of hope maybe. The details on her skin tells her old age and the hardships that she have been gone through her life.

Secret Life portrays a woman trapped in an apartment with a life of its own. Transcending the narrative horizons of human desire, the film visits upon us a glimpse of a shared and sacred reality. A work that defies the ultimate metaphysical taboos of temporality by combining novel technique with intrepid philosophical vision; and daring to present that which is seldom, if ever, portrayed in any artistic medium.

Impossibilities are made possible through Reynolds’ signature aesthetic, a lens that can fill one with reverence for the mundane.

Have you ever wondered what time sees, experiences? Without mortal assumptions about time, the occupant of the apartment is no longer limited even to unique location, but here, seen through the eye of time, space itself is now become alive. Without the context of space and time, the woman’s mind collapses and neglects the organization of her experience, leaving her only with sensations. The viewer may ask: Is it her mind or is it time itself that creates the uncontrolled and uncontrollable environment? The work suggests that all living things are endowed with consciousness, meaning all living things have awareness. While the space increases in its activity, the woman becomes an ever more passive element in her world. She moves at a mechanical speed and her mind is like a clock whose hands pin the events of her life to the tapestry of time, all the while, the truth is transcendentally reflected in the mechanical eye of the camera. Her thoughts escape her and come to life, growing like the plants that inhabit the space around her: living, searching, feeling, breathing and dying.

In Secret Machine a woman is subjected to Muybridge’s motion studies. She is treated in the same fashion as in the original Muybridge photography: with Greek aesthetic in a Cartesian grid. A short time after Mybridge’s studies, Duchamp painted Nude Descending a Staircase, No. 2 (1912) attempting to show time on a flat surface. He is expanding cubism and painting into another dimension: time. Time is about movement and change, like our experience of reality. Without change life does not exist. Photography does not capture this experience.

In Secret Machine different filming techniques are compared to the motion of the body. The film camera becomes another measurement tool in a way a video camera cannot. The intention was to make an art piece from the point of view of a machine, specifically a camera.

"Noclip" is a fake trailer, for a movie that, for now, is not going to be made, about the incredible power of its characters to defy the physics of the world they live in, almost as if they were cheating a videogame. With this project, I wanted to both experiment with the concept and improve my animation skills. Hope you all enjoy watching as much as I enjoyed working on it!

The project was done entirely in Flash, and edited in Premiere.
A new development from StoryMOOC Team from the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam on iversity website:

For everyone who has signed up before December 20th, all the course materials will stay available on Iversity for at least a YEAR. (So if you still want to catch up on the lessons, quizzes and creative tasks, don't worry, and don't hesitate!)

All the lessons will also go up on Aunt Renie's channel, and don't forget that Youtube enables the implementation of subtitles - so if you want to add some in your language (using Amara, perhaps), please go for it!

- Alexandra Schulz

It's a great opportunity, so remember the date December 20th and get yourself enrolled :)

Meet Aunt Renie

For Aunt Renie, language is not a bearer as she is multilingual. Nevertheless, here is one of the page from her recent entry from her diary which written in German and translated to English for English audience. Thanks Aunt Renie for sharing that.

Renie is a little, elderly lady, who’s always enjoyed lots of company. When her best friend dies, she decides to not be sad but instead use the time left to travel the world and explore as many new countries and cultures as she can.

Dearest Dairy,

I wake up with a pondering heavy rainfall and my new companion climbing all over me who I fell in love with on first sight when I arrived. I don't want to leave her behind, so I tag her along with me.

By the time we went off, the rain had stopped. We traveled some streets and found ChocoMuseo, a chocolate museum. It was a jackpot. Me entering the world of chocolates again, hahaha, last time I faint in Brussels, Belgium for eating too many. I did resist more this time.

Later in the evening I decided to went for La Mar restaurant, where I had a nice meal with a great wine. I invaded the young couple who were on the next table. I think they were on their first date. But guess what, I spend three hours with them, talking, laughing, sharing stories, what a wonderful people.

Next I went for cultural show Folklore Nights where I'd chance of showing off, and this time to Peruvians with my newly learnt Russian Kalinka Dance. I can see their faces, it was a priceless moment. Folklore Nights was an interesting and colourful show. The energy was great and a lot of dance varieties from different regions of Peru. They didn't allow me to get my cat in, but I had my way, hehehe. I did have problems in getting the cab though, but I met some nice kind couple, who arranged it for me.

The driver was nice, telling about his daughter who just started walking and how much he enjoys going to Marcahuasi for a family hiking. He drop me off and I was back to my comfy hotel room for one more night.

It's 2am now as I'm writing, me and my cat are hungry. We will just eat some brownie and have a hot coco and will go to bed.

Another great and last adventurous day in Lima, Peru. Next destination Cusco :)

I choose to go with a location-based story, and as we can re-use the character which we created in our third week, I'll be using my fictional character Renaud Quandt. You can read a base story of the character at Week 3 - Fictional Character. My assignment is just the basic part only.

StoryMOOC

The Basics:

1. Pick 3-5 locations in a two mile radius that you know very well. (e.g. a tree, a building, a church tower, …, whatever you like)

2. Take the character you created in Chapter #3 (or create a new one if you prefer).

3. Use both, the locations and characters to tell a little site-specific, location-based story. (One example is shown below.)

The Complete Package:

4. Go out and lay out the traces at your chosen locations.

5. Just post a logline (a summary of your game in just 1 line/sentence) here/on the web together with a description of your starting point, so others can actually find and play/follow your location-based story/game.

6. Play & experience! : )

Note: If wishes, all the locations could be followed on google map and could be walk around. The co-ordinates are given.

Hint: Use ° ' "

Location: Mitte, Berlin, Germany

Location Based Story:

Just after receiving a mysterious letter from Aunt Renie, Renaud Quandt, a 24-year-old Dutchman decided to find that woman. He haven't heard or known her, but she knows all about him and his family. Next morning, he and his friend Leeka traveled all the way to Berlin to find out the answers. Because of the content in the letter, he has to make an immediate journey.

Hotel Märkischer Hof at Linienstraße 133

They checked-in in Hotel Märkischer Hof at Linienstraße 133 (+52°31'35", +13°23'17") as Aunt Renie has stated it in her letter. Upon receipt, the hotel manager slide the small piece of paper to him. To Renaud surprise, there were only numbers on that paper, nothing else. The manager doesn't know what it's all about. The paper read, "523133132352."

Both, Renaud and Leeka, trying to figure out what these number meant.

Leeka: 12 digits long, is it a phone number?
Renard: hmm, doesn't look like it, might be the location co-ordinates...

Well, once Renaud figured it out that it was in fact the co-ordinates, it was easier for them to find out their target location. The place was almost 800-900 metres away and it surprised them to know it was a hospital.

They head east on Oranienburger Straße, and took turn on Auguststraße. After walking straight for a bit, they turned right on to Große Hamburger Straße and reached their destination in about 8-12 minutes at St. Hedwig-Krankenhaus (St. Hedwig Hospital)

St. Hedwig-Krankenhaus at Große Hamburger Straße 5-11

Till now a lot of questions were raising in his head, but he just follow along and went in to ask for Aunt Renie.

Receptionist: Oh, Aunt Renie! Hold on.

The receptionist went in and a young woman surgeon comes out. She took them on a side and introduced her.

Surgon: Hi, you must be Renaud. You are grown up. Sorry, I'm Milena Soltau, daughter of "Aunt Renie." She must be your girl friend Leeka.

It was fascinating for Renaud to know that she knew so much about him and his family.

Renard: Nice to meet you, Milena. You know everything about us. I received a letter from her, dated 10 years back. She also wrote that she knows the cause of my parents dead. Do you know where can I find her?
Milena: I know you might have a lot of questions, and the only person who could answer these, was my mother. I am really really sorry but she recently passed away.Renard: I'm sorry to hear that.Milena: Your parents were good people. Their dead was a tragedy. The people involved are not that nice. So be careful.

Renard realised that finding truth about his parents was not that easy. Before they left, he asked where was she buried.

Invalidenfriedhof Cemetery at Scharnhorststraße 33

The Invalidenfriedhof Cemetery was about 2.4 km away and it took them 30 minutes. After searching her tombstone, they found her. Renaud was disappoint to see this. He came all the way to just found out nothing. But the thought of receiving note from the manger lead him to her daughter. Do it mean that the cemetery will lead them further too?

Finally there was some hope for Renaud to find the clue. And there it was the twelve digit number.

Aunt Renie (1945-2013)

Leeka quickly checked "523150132240," and found its location. She told Renaud that it was not that far, almost 650-750 metres away.

They head southeast on Scharnhorststraße toward Habersaathstraße and took the first left turn on to Habersaathstraße and then took the two right turn and there it was Institute for Theoretical Biology where his mother used to work. It took them 8-10 minutes.

Institute for Theoretical Biology Berlin at Invalidenstraße 43

They were on the entrance of the Institute for Theoretical Biology (ITB), suddenly two policemen bring out a aged-ed woman in her research gown hand cuffed and they walked passed between them. Renaud met the eyes of the woman and she quickly grab something from her pocket and drop something while passing them. Renaud quickly hide it, without them noticing. He waited for them until it was safer for him to check out the note.

When he opened the note, there was nothing other than, "sehen Sie Ihren Rücken" which means "watch your back."
I've not been a gamer, but I do played few titles.
- and think about what story it told/how this story was interwoven/used in the game.

My pick for this week assignment is none other than God of War Series. I have only played first and second part on PS2 and it was one of the first games I remember finishing it.

About the Game:

God of War is a third person single player, categorized as an action-adventure game, based on Greek mythology. It consists of a lot of bloody combats and at the same time solving puzzles.

“The Gods of Olympus have abandoned me. Now there is no hope.”
–Kratos.

This game is a journey of the mortal Spartan warrior, Kratos, who accidentally and brutally killed his wife and child in the battle serving Ares and to avenge their dead.

In the battle with barbarians, Kratos find himself helpless, where he called upon Ares, the God of War to destroy his enemies in return of serving him. Kratos battles many wars for Ares until the day he ignores village oracle warning and enters one of Athena's temple where he end up slaughtering his own wife and child. It was a dirty trick played by Ares to remove distractions from Kratos life in making him greatest warrior.

Why:

The main thing which I enjoyed most was the game-play and its visuals. The visual were purely great and the render look totally stunning. Because of the game was on epic scale it has beautiful scenery. The animations were too good, I liked the weapon which Kratos uses, the blades. It upgraded as you go further along in the story. The character interaction and attack mode worked like a charm which adds a great user experience. There were no time-wasting segments and no delays in loading. I can just say it was a perfect game experience for me.

So it was combination of good game-play, nice music to support, beautiful imagery, unique character designs and great combats with the enemies which made me captive through out.
