BASIC INFORMATION

I'm Aabid from Pakistan. I'm 24 years young. I am the kind of person who likes to discover new things every single day. For as long as I can remember, I've been experiencing new things and discovering new thoughts and ideas; and I still am.

I have a deep passion for 3D Character Animation, especially in the making of short films. I haven't made any shorts independently yet, but you might see my first sooner than later. My other interests include making friends, blogging, watching movies, listening to music and reading books.

MY EXPERIENCE

My personal experience in the field of Graphics started in the year 2000 with Adobe Photoshop. Before that, I used to work in Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Picture It!, Sierra SnapShot and Microsoft PhotoDraw. I taught myself Adobe Photoshop, and used to work on tutorials available from websites to create different wallpapers, makeovers, posters, logos, websites, and experiment with photos. In 2005, a new path of Graphics opened up for me and the dream of entering the world of 3D Graphics came true when I took a course in Autodesk Maya. I created a few animations, models and worked on some other projects too. But the real work on Animation and Modelling started in January 2006. I learned more on my own than what I was taught in the course. I had made my first animation reel, Animation Reel v1.0, which you can still watch in the old animation section. You can also view my new Animation Reel 2009 in my animation section, which was made after more than 3 years. I have many ideas to work on and many life-plans. (I am a team player if anyone is interested in collaborating on a project.)

I joined the prestigious SharpImage as a 3D Character Animator in June 2006, where I later promoted to Lead. In this title I had a chance to manage a team and supervise them. There I learn a lot of informative details about animation every day.

After that I had worked as a freelancer. During this time I have worked on two freelance commercial projects, in which I had supervised, managed the project and animated.

In June last year, I got an awesome opportunity to attend the CG Overdrive 2009 Singapore conference, Professional Animation Track, and meet the honourable PIXAR animators Mr Victor Navone and Johnathen Collins. They shared an ample amount of knowledge for which I am really grateful to them.

After returning to Pakistan, I did a little freelancing. And then I worked as a Game Animator from Karachi for Game Ventures - part of Xuqa.com, Singapore - where I worked on Online Sports Game, Howzat. After three months, when the game was completed, I moved on to more opportunities of learning and researching the craft; and started planning new things, setting new goals and seeking new opportunities.

In November, I took the online Gnomon Master Classes based on 16 lecture classes by 16 respected working professionals from VFX and Game industries. Receiving such knowledge from around the world in only two to three weeks was something I had never experienced before.

While I was working on some personal works and also looking for some challenging opportunities, my eyes caught sight of the online Facebook competition organised by Mass Animation (the second such competition after the successful creation of the short movie, Live Music, the year before) with DC Universe Online. I participated in the first phase and produced some animations in December, and January this year. As a result, the jury and the Director selected one of my shots, which was a really overwhelming experience for me. I got a chance to work on my shot further with the Director Mr Yair Landau and the Supervisor Tim Lannon from Reel FX. It was a great feeling to get myself involved in the trailer for Sony Online with some highly experienced artists.
